Well surprise surprise. My line is closed every weekend for the next 40 while they do upgrades on a Sunday, and this weekend – the first it was closed – the work overran between Manor Park and Liverpool Street. Result: this morning’s train is delayed by 20 minutes.
That’s on top of the 14 minute delay caused by a delay on its previous journey and the broken signals at Colchester that are causing cancellations and further delays to other trains.
So it’s not been a good start to 10 months of engineering work. It has, though, been predictable.
Very cold this morning. The lake in Chelmsford’s Central Park, visible from the viaduct, is frozen over and the ground covered by snow.
