The week didn’t start well. I was at the station in time for the 09h02, as usual, only to find it delayed by 17 minutes. The 19. Then 22, 24… equipment failure, apparently, somewhere around Ipswich which, as it’s an intercity from Norwich, it has to pass through. So I took the 09h09 and got into work slightly late.
Yesterday’s delays weren’t nearly so serious, but it was still chugging along later than the schedule. The 08h58 was comfortably crowded so I let it go and sat it out in the cafe, dodging past the counter to avoid the stare of the coffee woman and taking a seat in a back corner.
So it was nice to have everything running as it should again this morning. The 09h02 is a good train, with tables and fold down trays and plenty of room for working. When it runs on time it gets me to work in time and lets me get ahead with things on the way.
The only trouble is it comes from so far away that it’s prone to delay.
